In the example above, there are well over 30 cuts in the dialogue hidden by the intercut b-roll shots. While the ideal situation is a perfect take in a quiet environment every time, that’s rarely the reality of video production. There was a lot of noise coming from the kitchen during the shoot, so I had to get very creative with the cuts. I had to get so granular for this edit that I was pulling individual vowels and consonants from different takes and blending them into other words and phrases to repair the dialogue. The result is a seamless narrative that conveys the branding message as if it was actually all shot in one take.
