This edit was particularly challenging in that I was handed an already edited video that the client wanted re-edited. As you can see the videographer had done an excellent job capturing the footage and had already delivered a good edit, but the client wanted some changes made that the videographer was not available to deliver in the desired time frame.

So the challenge was to re-edit this video without access to any of the raw footage. Not only that, but we needed to find new music, which meant that I would have even less room to move since new music meant new cuts that needed to conform to the rhythm of the new music. Addition by subtraction.

We selected the new music and got approvals from the client, and the graphic designer on the project handed me a photoshop file containing the static layers of the animated title cards you see in the final cut.

Another thing to note is that the re-edit wasn’t just for this one video. There were six total videos delivered, meaning six new music selections and six re-edits.
